Fleetwood Mac mounts world tour in 2013

While this news is not exactly hot off the presses, I'm adding for your convenience links to the tour dates on the right sidebar of the site. Fleetwood Mac is playing not only the USA and Canada but is also planning dates in the UK, Europe, and Australia. Who knows where else they will go?

You can also buy VIP packages from MickFleetwoodOfficial.com - these include a meet'n'greet with Mick Fleetwood and a seat that is guaranteed to be in the first five rows for most dates for $425. Alternatively, you can get the meet'n'greet with a seat guaranteed to be in the first twenty rows for $375. Considering what you get, I think it's a fair price.

Note: If you get the VIP package, I strongly recommend you double-check your order and call for verbal confirmation. I say this because my order was completely screwed up the first time and I was charged for two seats that I didn't actually get (they were apparently double-sold to someone else who was buying at the same time due to a computer glitch). Don't be satisfied with email confirmation. Even though they charged my card and the order was confirmed via email, the other people got the seats. If I hadn't noticed my email confirmation had no seat numbers and called to inquire, I would have flown to Columbus to find someone else in the seats and myself out of luck.  A refund would have been cold comfort and wouldn't have covered my plane ticket, rental car, and hotel. Thank God I called them!

Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum do an episode of "Crossroads"

Crossroads is a show on CMT that pairs artists from two different genres - usually a younger country group and one of their musical heroes - and allows them to play on each others' songs. Lindsey Buckingham did one with Little Big Town a while back.  Now, it's Stevie's turn. She taped one with Lady Antebellum recently in Los Angeles; you can find the setlist and a nice article on the taping in RollingStone.com. The air date is TBA.

Fleetwood Mac release incredible Rumours deluxe set

Yeah, Rumours has been re-released before more than once. I personally have it in LP format, CD, MP3, DVD-A, and the 2-disc reissue from a few years ago. So, besides being an obsessive hardcore, why am I shelling out over $80 for the Rumours Deluxe Edition?

Because it is deluxe indeed!  It not only has an LP, Rumours CD, and the outtakes CD I'd heard before, but it also has another outtakes CD that I hadn't heard before which includes treats like Stevie's early version of "The Chain" with different lyrics as well as Christine's "Keep Me There" which would be blended into hers to make "The Chain" we know and love today. Lindsey has a cool early version of "Go Your Own Way" with the lyric "You can roll like thunder."  Additionally, it has a live CD from the Rumours tour and finally, the 1976 Rosebud documentary DVD in high quality. With regard to packaging, the large booklet and gatefold framing is beautiful. Hardcores must have this!

You can buy it from Amazon and similar stores, or you can get it bundled with T-shirts and posters from Fleetwood Mac's official site.

Note: There is also an Expanded Edition version available with only three CDs; it's cheaper, but also doesn't include the Rosebud DVD, the LP, or as many outtakes (although the outtakes that are missing seem to be the ones from the reissue a little while ago - something to keep in mind if you're trying to save money). I say go for the super-deluxe but that's just me.

Stevie Nicks Featured on Oprah's "Master Class"

Oprah Winfrey will interview Stevie for an episode of Master Class that airs in March of 2013. More information as well as a brief trailer can be found on the show's official site.

Stevie and Lindsey in Sound City documentary; Stevie has new song

While fans wait for Stevie Nicks' In Your Dreams documentary to be released commercially, at least we get to see both her and Lindsey Buckingham in another one. They, along with Mick Fleetwood, appear in a segment of Dave Grohl's Sound City documentary. Their segment is brief, but in it they talk a great deal about the making of Buckingham Nicks as well as Fleetwood Mac's white album. While the documentary is currently available for streaming, the release date for the DVD is March 12, 2013.

The Sound City soundtrack is also slated for a March 12, 2013 release date and features a new song by Stevie called "You Can't Fix This" about the death of her godson. It is also available through amazon.com and similar retailers. See a live version on YouTube filmed where Stevie appeared as part of Grohl's "supergroup" which, among a handful of other performances, played at the Sundance Film Festival in January where the documentary premiered.
